The Actors Theatre Workshop: A Vital New York City Cultural Institution
ATW was founded in 1990 by Artistic Director, Executive Producer and Founder Thurman E. Scott, an award-winning theatre artist whose mentor Stella Adler deemed “a creative revolutionary.” His techniques drive the educational programming we offer and have proven transformational for program participants and volunteers alike. Our corporate partners fuel some of our most powerful programming, and the employees who participate bring that energy, inspiration, and learning back to the office and their work teams in impactful and creative ways.
ATW collaborates with leading corporations and funders to bring our award-winning programming to those in need, while providing employees with meaningful opportunities to contribute and to develop skills that will transform their professional capacity, creativity, and leadership.
We make it easy for corporate partners to join with us in helping others. From entry-level support staff to seasoned executives, we welcome a diversity of people and organizations that contribute their time, expertise, and resources to our mission.
This profile on ATW and our founder Thurman E. Scott called Compassion (produced by BYU-TV) reveals how ATW’s theatre techniques builds empathy for others and gives people powerful tools to create change.
We invite you and your employees to be a part of ATW’s award-winning programs and classes that have changed the lives of thousands of individuals in New York City and around the world.
